2019 Fulbright FLTA Summer Orientation Cultural Events

Time to have fun!

There are several fun activities planned to relax and unwind at night. On Sunday, August 11, please join us for a Welcome Reception located in the lounge in the main lobby of the Syracuse Sheraton Hotel where you will be staying. Light cold h’oeuvres and refreshments will be served.

After your first half day of presentations on Monday, August 12, we will take a short trip by bus to two locations nearby the University. The first is Golub Our Farm located in Manlius, NY. Here we will take a hay ride, eat fresh corn, travel through a corn maze and have a secret grand finale! We can’t wait until you see this! Be sure to pack some comfortable clothes and shoes for this event!

Our second evening on Tuesday, August 13 will take us to Skä•noñh – Great Law of Peace Center.  This is a Haudenosaunee Heritage Center near Onondaga Lake Park. At this museum, you will learn about the Native American lifestyle and history. You will hear stories from Natives as well learn about the legendary game of lacrosse!

On the final evening, we hope you will dazzle us with your talent at the Farewell Dinner and Cultural Program. Perform a dance, recite a poem, play an instrument, or even conduct a play with fellow FLTAs. Have fun with this! This is an opportunity to showcase your country’s beautiful culture.
